Description
Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, ON, is currently seeking a Manager to join their Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC) team which serves the emergency communication needs of the citizens of the Kenora/Rainy River districts. The ideal candidate will lead, manage, plan and evaluate all aspects of the Centre and its influence on a local, regional, provincial, national level.
Recognizing the dynamic nature of this portfolio, this opportunity includes a structured onboarding mentorship program to support the successful applicant in the role. The program will be delivered in partnership with a veteran industry expert that will assist the new leader in building relationships, educating on the complexities of the portfolio and industry, and facilitate a successful transition into this innovative leadership opportunity.
The Manager is responsible for achieving quality, growth and success through the development of relationships internally and externally with a vast collection of stakeholders.
About the CACC Portfolio
- Interoperability: The CACC functions across different networks, platforms and industries. This unique component places the Kenora CACC as a leader throughout multiple jurisdictions.
- Connected: The CACC exists within LWDH as a Transfer Payment of the Ministry of Health. The Centre operates as a key component of the seamless Ontario communications network. Kenora CACC has created unique functional connections with the State Minnesota, Province of Manitoba and Remote North Ontario communities.
- Multi-dimensional: The CACC is intricately connected to various industry partners. The Centre serves as a leader with partners such as EMS, Fire, Public Safety, First Response, Emergency Management and broader emergency telecommunications network.
The candidate must have a history of excellence in leadership and service within public safety, and possess the following qualifications:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Health Care or Emergency Services Management (or equivalent), other acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Completion of Incident Management Systems training or willingness to obtain
- Minimum of three (3) years of current full-time experience in a leadership, administrative and/or supervisory capacity
- Minimum of five (5) years of current full-time employment with a Communication Centre, Emergency Services or similar related field
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Ambulance Act and Regulations, Coroners Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act)
- Knowledge of Ontario’s Emergency Health Services Systems including governance, administration, and operations
- Holder of a valid and subsisting certificate of Emergency Medical Dispatch, Ambulance Communication Officer, ARIS/ARIS II or equivalent
- Member of a recognized Emergency Communications association such as APCO or NENA
- First Aid/CPR
- G driver’s license
- Knowledge of collective agreements, and supervising in a unionized environment
- Proficiency in various software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, written/oral communication
- Demonstrated reliable attendance record
