Job Description of Junior Microbiologist
The junior microbiologist performs routine microbiology tests, conduct environmental monitoring, and perform laboratory duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow laboratory safety requirements and standard operating procedures as applicable.
- Media preparation, culture maintenance, culture and media waste disposal.
- Conduct microbial enumeration and identification tests on raw materials, packaging components, intermediate and finished products.
- Gram stain, reading plates, water and EM sample collection and testing.
- Assist Senior Microbiologist and supervisor in investigations and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- B.Sc. degree or college diploma in microbiology or equivalent discipline.
- Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and media preparation and culture maintenance.
- Knowledge of current USP and/or ISO microbiology test procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical or food industries is an asset.
